Track 9: Integration and Architectures

Modern information systems generate added value from integrating information from multiple sources instead of just one single database. Architecture for realizing this gets increasingly complex since a multitude of components has interact internally and with external systems. This complexity leads to a variety of designs and underlying paradigms of these architectures.
Technological service oriented architectures are complemented with relevant and newer approaches like semantic technologies or applications of selforganizations.

At the same time, these information systems are influenced by a context that guides their design and evolution and the surrounding usage ecosystems.
Approaches vary from open source to closed systems like Apples iOS environment. Technical design decision on the architectures are always intertwined with specific business models.

An evaluation of information systems has to consider that context. The value of a certain business model can justify some technologal expensive system design. Cost and benefit models are necessary to enable such a holistic view.
